Joe Freshgoods and Black Soles, a group of Black New Balance employees, joined up to create the "Conversations Among Us" campaign, which aims to highlight the experiences of Black people in America. The "Conversations Among Us" collection from New Balance includes a number of models, including the 550. The sneaker, which champions a retro aesthetic, has a primarily cream colour aspect. The collar and midfoot include details made of contrast-coloured grey suede. On the sides, a cream "N" logo may be seen.A sole made entirely of cream rubber completes the appearance.
